Photographer, Designer, Web Designer, Promo Video director and now Digital Book Publisher, Colin has had a varied and intriguing career in media.
Coffee With A Lid packages his skills and experience into one focussed space.
He has been involved in a wide array of projects ranging from producing and directing pop videos for such bands as The Proclaimers and The High Fidelity, to corporate photography & video production, his own exhibitions & even drumming in… Ten Storeys High, The Olives, Tonight At Noon, Vodka, The Twist from Kirkcaldy & The Ghost Train.
As a photographer, Colin has worked with The Face magazine, The Scotsman, Traverse Theatre, X-Factor Dance Co, Terry Beck Troupe from Philadelphia, Boilerhouse Theatre & Benchtours to mention but a few…
For the past 13 years, he has also worked closely with The Proclaimers & their management on their media needs.
Colin is also part of the team at QikServe™ in the role of Media Manager.
This part time position places him firmly at the forefront of mobile technology in Scotland and sees him working with many of the country’s innovators.

Julia Douglas, Artistic Director
Since graduating with a postgraduate MA in Art & Design in 1999, Julia has worked continuously as a fine artist, undertaking four artist residencies and exhibiting continuously throughout, including annually as a Professional Member of Visual Arts Scotland, and winning nine awards in the process for her work.
As well as her own creative practice, Julia has worked with many galleries and arts organisations predominantly on display, sales and education, including Aberdeen Art Gallery, the Royal Scottish Academy, Timespan, Peacock Visual Arts, Craft Scotland, The Fruitmarket Gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery, London Printworks Trust and, currently, as exhibition organiser for the Society of Scottish Artists’ Annual Exhibition.
She joined Coffee With a Lid as Artistic Director two years ago to work alongside Colin Usher. At Coffee With a Lid, Julia works with artists, arts organisations and small businesses to create affordable, self-manageable websites. Clients to date have included the Society of Scottish Artists, North Light Arts, Edinburgh Steiner Teacher Training and, independent artists, Tina Vanderwerf and Fiona R Hutchison.
Coffee With a Lid launched their new venture in January, a digital publishing company named Coffee Table. Their aim is to release digital ‘coffee table books’ which focus on creative imagery.
